When The Time Comes Instrmntal

"Me likes!"

date: August 10, 2008

I really like the melody...its catchy, yet it has 'complexity' or 'depth' to it if you know what i mean? The catchiest of melodies are very simple and therefore annoying, but this was easy on the ears and enjoyable to listen to because it made you actually 'listen' to it and how it was being played. You also mixed it up when needed so i cant critisize repetitiveness.

Your're right though a vocalist would really lift this song. I can imagine a really soft female voice to it^^

Exactly what I was thinking, some falsetto harmonies here and there, man it would be sweet. My sister would be perfect, but she never wants to cooperate with me. :(

Thanks for the review!

Its a nice meld of heavy (but thoughtful) metal with a solid prog feel...

You do prog well, i think Geddy Lee and Neil Peart of Rush would be damn proud of that bass and drumming. Only thing is, they swapped Alex Lifeson for John Petrucci:P

But yeah, it was really good, i listened to it twice through. Only thing is, maybe that acoustic bit at 3:57 would be better off if it was more prominent and the lead less so? Its good while the lead clams down a bit...but it would make the explosion of the lead at around 4:25 more effective.

On your user-page you recomend a listen to this and Depths of Babylon, i can see why because not only are they written by you, but they really showcase your skill and technique...not to mention the clarity of your shredding, which alot of shredders don't necissarily bother about as much.

- Des (Been playing since i was 13-14 (18 now) and im not even half as good as you, i can't believe you've been playing for a year! That must be some intense dedication:P)

Author's Response:

Great review! Thanks, I already believe I have technique and the physical performance mastered. I think production, mastering, and songwriting can use a lot more work on my part though.

And yeah, I play like 6 hours a day. I have a bunch of freetime, so I like to just experiment and solo to random songs.

Thanks again for the great review!
