I can't believe how freaking smart you've made me feel. Im at about 55 just now (Not thought about it but i felt ive played enough to write my review:P)

The game is great, its a love or hate game...if you give up too easily and just don't use your brain..you will not enjoy it. But trust me, if you really think about them, you get the greatest elated rush for getting them right.

As i said, youve made me feel pretty uber-smart. This game really could be used in some sort of spacial awareness test. I think it uses whatever part that is and your memory as well. (Thats what i think im using anyway)

To all you americans/canadians that can't get 53, you should be freaking ashamed. Im British and I got it without pen or paper! In fact, ive only used pen and paper for a particular one which i felt stupid for not getting straight away. Thats as big a hint im allowing you. Oh and 53 really was pretty harsh for those of us who don't 'use' it.

HL1 Scientist Soundboard

"I think ill use this one :D"

date: August 1, 2007

There are alot of soundboards on NG but i think this is one i probably might use to piss of my friend. Hehe, he'll be all like "wtf!" until he actually remembers who used to say those sounds and reminice back to the days of HL1.

Great soundboard, a nice variety of sounds...but i dunno why you didnt include some of the briefings that the scientists give you. Lke when one says "I can't come with you, but you MUST get to the reactor room and..." etc etc.

A really great game:D I played 2 hours before i started writing this review. It reminded me of 'rs Tower Defence VER3', even the towers were losely based on them. Its good for the fact that you are not limited to a grid, towers are completely unrestricted to where you can place them which is nice and allows for more scope when positioning them.

I really liked the combo system, its something new and different from other TD games, there must be SOO many combinations of them, they even combo with themselves hehe. Again, the combo system alows for a lot of scope and a tad more skill is involved when playing instead of the usual, "Place towers, upgrade and hope for the best" strategy.

I can see that the game isnt fully finished yet, im wondering what that 'Freakout' button is gonna do:D Plus you've already mentioned sound is coming in another review...but then again, adding sound is likely going to increase the FileS alot and its already nice and low.

As far as playability goes, its great since there are alot of different maps with their own strategies (Im about to play Lyne), and ive still to discover all the combos and their effects. Got wave 127, which is meh best so far but i should manage to improve on that, since it seems pretty sucky compared to some guys.

When The Time Comes Instrmntal

"Me likes!"

date: August 10, 2008

I really like the melody...its catchy, yet it has 'complexity' or 'depth' to it if you know what i mean? The catchiest of melodies are very simple and therefore annoying, but this was easy on the ears and enjoyable to listen to because it made you actually 'listen' to it and how it was being played. You also mixed it up when needed so i cant critisize repetitiveness.

Your're right though a vocalist would really lift this song. I can imagine a really soft female voice to it^^

Exactly what I was thinking, some falsetto harmonies here and there, man it would be sweet. My sister would be perfect, but she never wants to cooperate with me. :(

Thanks for the review!

Its a nice meld of heavy (but thoughtful) metal with a solid prog feel...

You do prog well, i think Geddy Lee and Neil Peart of Rush would be damn proud of that bass and drumming. Only thing is, they swapped Alex Lifeson for John Petrucci:P

But yeah, it was really good, i listened to it twice through. Only thing is, maybe that acoustic bit at 3:57 would be better off if it was more prominent and the lead less so? Its good while the lead clams down a bit...but it would make the explosion of the lead at around 4:25 more effective.

On your user-page you recomend a listen to this and Depths of Babylon, i can see why because not only are they written by you, but they really showcase your skill and technique...not to mention the clarity of your shredding, which alot of shredders don't necissarily bother about as much.

- Des (Been playing since i was 13-14 (18 now) and im not even half as good as you, i can't believe you've been playing for a year! That must be some intense dedication:P)

Author's Response:

Great review! Thanks, I already believe I have technique and the physical performance mastered. I think production, mastering, and songwriting can use a lot more work on my part though.

And yeah, I play like 6 hours a day. I have a bunch of freetime, so I like to just experiment and solo to random songs.

Thanks again for the great review!
